Who We Are

We are SACE registered educators and highly accomplished in our respective teaching & learning areas. We have many years of teaching, training, coaching, lecturing & assessment experience, as well as relevant industry expertise.

Over the course of our careers we received exceptional guidance from knowledgable, supportive mentors, bringing out the best in us. We wouldn’t have achieved excellence in our teaching otherwise. Caring colleagues and outstanding managers made an impact on us - and we want to pay it forward.

It is assumed that teachers learn all they need to know during their studies, but the reality is very different. We weren't always equipped for the challenges of teaching or the subjects that we taught. Many teachers continue to step into their classrooms with very little to go on. As schools become ever more complex and demanding, we need increasing collaboration in our profession.

Our Aims:

  • Reinforce educator skills

  • Offer new insights and methodologies

  • Foster belonging and teamwork

  • Share tools and learning for educator success

Our Vision & Our Values

We are motivated by the following core beliefs:

  • We believe in teachers working together to strengthen the curriculum.

  • We believe that the answers to many of our socio-economic and development challenges can be found in our classrooms. Teachers must be empowered to cultivate optimism, innovation, and nation-building.

  • We believe in confronting barriers to teacher excellence.

  • We believe that learners need more than the ability to do well on a test: they need the social, emotional, intellectual and creative skills to lead confident, independent lives, to contribute positively to society, and to achieve self-sufficiency.

  • We believe that a good teacher is better than the best technology. We believe in authentic educative connection.

Our vision is that the Teacher Training Lab becomes the countrywide portal of choice for teacher networking, training & development, teacher support, and best practice in South African classrooms.
